MID-CENTURY MODERN

This interior design project explores a warm, mid-century–inspired aesthetic that blends contemporary comfort with playful retro character. The existing space features generous natural light and a strong connection to the garden, which provided a foundation for a design scheme centred around earthy tones, geometric patterns, and curated accents.

The concept builds upon the home’s current palette of warm oranges, ochres, and natural woods, balancing these with soft neutrals to create inviting, multifunctional living areas. Inspired by mid-century modern forms, the proposal introduces clean-lined furniture, textured upholstery, and statement lighting to elevate the rooms while maintaining a relaxed, lived-in atmosphere.

Across the living room and adjoining spaces, patterned textiles and layered accessories—ranging from bold cushions to expressive curtains—add depth and personality. The SketchUp visuals illustrate how these elements come together: structured seating arrangements, warm timber furniture, modernist artwork, and ambient lighting combine to form cohesive, characterful interiors. Each element has been chosen to celebrate colour, comfort, and authenticity while respecting the architecture and scale of the home.

The result is a set of spaces that feel both nostalgic and fresh—practical for everyday living yet rich in visual identity.
